The Market at Chichicastenango

Every Thursday and Sunday, the town displays a colorful market and Indian families come from more than 50 neighboring villages to trade and barter. Vendors install stalls with food and handmade objects, but don't let yourself fooled by the offers at the edge of the market-they have better visibility and use higher prices. Go with a night before if possible, and you'll see how the Indians set their wares, exchange news and go to sleep under the moon.
